- Your final essay draft will be worth 25% of your final mark for second semester.
- Use the error code and Fraser's written feedback to improve your essay.
- The essay is due on January 17th (first class after the New Year holiday).
- You must include the first draft of your essay.
- Both drafts should be submitted together in a clear plastic folder.
Next week you must have 400+ words of your essay written (this can include your introduction). Remember the following tips:
This week we read some of our classmates' introductory paragraphs and gave each other advice about how to improve our writing.
Homework 1: Please write your theisis (opinion) and one piece of numerical evidence and one piece of expert opinion to support it.
Homework 2: Please write a new draft of your opinion paragraph. Attach it (on top) of your first draft and submit it in our next lesson.
This week I introduced you to the error code we will be using in class. Homework is very simple: Rewrite the paragraph I returned to you, using the error code to improve your writing. Fix EVERY item that has been marked in red.
Attach your new paragraph ON TOP of your first draft either by staple or paperclip. Hand them in next class.
...and bring your opinion paragraph also!
Next class, we will have a special Halloween lesson. Please download the handout below and bring it to the lesson.
Homework for next week is to write a 150+ word opinion paragraph. Your opinion can come from the list I gave you in class, or you can think of your own opinion.
Topic sentence: introduces the opinion
Supporting sentences: support the opinion
Concluding sentence: uses a warning, a question, a prediction, or advice to finish the paragraph.
Don`t forget to include a counter-argument and refutation in your supporting sentences!
...and please download the handout below for next class.
